Dodge City - Ray Kenton, 85, died January 2, 2015 at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains in Dodge City. He was born on February 5, 1929 on the farm south of Ingalls in Gray County, the son of Clifford V. and Mary Naoma (Green) Kenton.

Ray was a graduate of Dodge City High School. On August 9, 1947, he married Vera May Love. She preceded him in death on August 15, 2008. Ray was a farmer for most of his life, farming ground in Finney and Hodgeman counties.

Ray is survived by one daughter, Sherry Pike and husband Kirby of Ashland; two sons, Lee Kenton and wife Martha and Ron Kenton and wife Janelle all of Dodge City; six granddaughters; and five great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, one brother, Orie Kenton; and one sister, Viola Fern Steinkuehler.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 2:00 PM with Mr. Bill Glunt presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Monday, January 5, 2015 from noon to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Prairie in care of the funeral home.
