Obituary

Montezuma - Our daughter, Rebecca Ann, was born to us, Max and Iris (Becker) Boehs on July 12, 1983 at Ulysses. She peacefully passed away on May 5, 2020, from complications of COVID19, at Minneola Hospital, Minneola.

Rebecca (Becky) was a happy child during her growing up years at Ulysses. Her school years were spent at Western Plains Christian School, where her friends were important to her. During the years of Becky's employment at our bakery she connected with many and established long lasting friendships. Her laugh was contagious and her love for life was clearly expressed.

Becky heard the call to salvation in her early teen years. She accepted Christ as her Savior, and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite on May 18, 1997 by Minister Denton Koehn. The testimony of her life expressed a walk with God. Moreover, God blessed her with a special divine revelation of a promise of His return, late in her life. This she treasured in her heart. She remained true to her covenant with God, leaving us with an assurance of salvation.

In her youth years we noticed her walking became impaired and she often lost her balance. This did not slow her down; she loved to be on the go! When she purchased her first car, she was thrilled, and driving was one of her favorite things to do.

In October of 2004, Becky and her parents moved to El Mirage, Arizona. She was not sure about this move at first, but she soon lost her heart to the desert country and came to love the church family there. During these years in Arizona, she realized one of her dreams and became a caregiver for disabled children. But life was also bringing her challenges. Her mobility continued to decline, thus from an ambulatory state, she regressed to using a cane, a walker, and finally a wheelchair. Those who knew her were amazed at her acceptance of these changes. It didn't come easy but God gave her the grace to learn to accept her life.

In October 2011, she moved to Bethel Home in Montezuma. A new challenge – going to a care home at 28 years old! After a little over a year of excellent care there, another of her dreams came true – her Uncle Jerrell and Aunt Alfreda bought her a house, so she could live at 'home' and be cared for there.

T hree years later, she moved into the Long Term Care Unit in Minneola. She was the youngest resident there and soon stole everyone's hearts. She loved her caregivers, and we are so thankful for the excellent care she received there. We as a family are especially touched by the guardianship she received in the last several days of her life. The long term care staff and hospital staff did everything possible during this time to make her feel comfortable and cared for in the absence of family.

Becky will be missed, but remembered by her parents, Max and Iris, her brother Ben, and his wife, Michelle, two nephews Eric and Ethan, and niece Ellen of Ulysses. Her uncles, aunts, cousins and friends will remember all those things that made her "Becky". Preceding her in death are her grandparents, Alfred and Esther Boehs, step grandmother Ruby Boehs, and Alvin and Evelyn Becker.
