DODGE CITY - Richard William Harper, IV, 54, died October 31, 2017 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  He was born on March 20, 1963 in Wichita, the son of Richard William and Carolyn (Burns) Harper, III.

Richard moved as a small child to Dodge City with his family.  He attended Dodge City school.  As an adult, Richard worked for different oil companies.  Among the many jobs he worked at was a seismograph operator.

Richard is survived by a daughter, Tiffany Norton of Lakewood, Washington; one son, Richard Wayne Harper also of Lakewood, Washington; his mother, Carolyn Blackburn of Hutchinson; a sister, Tina Jo Cook of Dodge City; and three grandchildren, Aden Elkins, Adalynn Ostenberg, and Kyleigh Ostenberg.  He is preceded in death by his father and his grandmother, Dorothy Law.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Dodge City on Monday November 13, 2017 at 10:00 AM.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Sunday November 12, 2017 from noon to 6:00 PM.  Cremation will follow the service and a private family inurnment will be at a later date.
