Obituary

Sublette - Richard Lee Hoffman, Sr., 86, died March 7, 2013 at Via Christie St. Francis Campus in Wichita. He was born on May 5, 1926 in Sublette, the son of Earl Ulysses and Lila Maude (Lindeman) Hoffman .

Richard was a lifetime resident of Sublette and attended school there. On June 30, 1946, he married Frances Jean French in Sublette. Richard farmed south of Sublette for many years. He also worked at Haskell County Grain, McCoy Grain, and Sublette Feeders. Richard enjoyed hunting but most of all, he enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren.

He was a member of the Sublette Christian Church of Sublette.

In addition to his wife, Frances Jean, Richard is survived by three daughters, Nancy Weeks and Sue Stoppel and husband Tom both of Sublette; and Cynthia Collier of Indio, California; one brother, Randall "Curly" Hoffman and wife Vivian of Sublette; one sister, Shirley Passow of Marble Falls, Texas; three grandsons, Steve Weeks and Rory Schrieber of Sublette; Clint Stoppel and wife Lisa of Heston; and Chris Stoppel and wife Haley of Sublette; and five great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and one son, Richard "Dick" Hoffman, Jr.

Funeral service will be held at Sublette Christian Church on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 2:00 PM with Pastor David Erwin presiding. Burial will follow at Haskell County Cemetery in Sublette. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel of Sublette on Monday, March 11, 2013 from Noon - 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Sublette Christian Church in care of the funeral home.
