Richard graduated from Dodge City High School in 1949, Dodge City Community College in 1956 and Wichita State University in1958.  He received his Master's Degree in School Administration from Fort Hays State in 1970.  Richard was a teacher and school administrator for 35 years, retiring in 1992. His devotion to children and education enriched his life full of loving memories.

His school years were spent working with his family and the Kline Dairy.  After getting married, he also worked for the Santa Fe Railroad which started his lifelong love of trains.  He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Dodge City, serving on the Board of Trustees, Superintendent of Sunday School, and helped organize the Builders Sunday School class.

Richard was an avid golfer and was active in the Mariah Hills Golf Association.   He continued to play golf after retiring to Arizona.  His family was the center of his life.  The many camping trips in the mountains and Camp Kline reunions were a highlight of his summers and retirement.  Richard and Donna enjoyed traveling with the camper and sometimes on their Honda Gold Wing.  Numerous trips were made with friends and always included hiking and camping.  After retirement, the Klines settled in Green Valley, Arizona.

Richard is survived by his wife of 66 years, Donna Dowling Kline of Green Valley, Arizona; three sons, Max Kline and wife Iris, Scott Kline and wife Denise and Brian Kline and wife Veronica, and one daughter, Teri Merrifield and husband Terry; one sister Marilyn Shepard; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Virginia McInturff.
