Spearville - Rita Mary Naab of Spearville went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, surrounded by her children, several grandchildren, and niece Ruth Ann Herman and special friend Elaine Hart, who both took loving care of Rita during times when her children could not be there.

Rita was born January 18, 1929, to Henry Carl and Anna Mary (Temaat) Hain. She married Andrew F. Naab on October 18, 1949, and together they raised seven children: Edie and husband Schuyler Kellogg of Pueblo, Colorado; Janice and husband Rey Castillo of Spearville; Lois and husband Dale Wilken of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; Becky and husband Rob Stickney of Overland Park, Kansas; Lisa and husband Clayton Hort of Garden City, Kansas; Lester and wife Deb Naab of Denver, Colorado; and Randy and wife Tammie Naab of Topeka, Kansas. Rita leaves behind her children, 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. She also treasured her many nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Rita was preceded in death by her best friend and husband Andrew on May 26, 2013; her parents, her siblings Martha and husband Frank Konda; Lucy and husband Lawrence Schmitt; Henry J. Hain; Gertrude and husband Lawrence Herman; and two granddaughters, Rachel Marie and Mary Jayne Stickney.

Rita spent her early elementary school years at Spearville, and then in the seventh grade went on to Windthorst School, where she graduated. Rita's life was centered on her husband and her family. She loved her farm, fishing, gardening, and her farm animals. She actually named all her calves every year. She was a wicked card and Scrabble player, and her days were not complete without finishing the daily crossword puzzle under the targeted time. Rita enjoyed her years as the school secretary in Spearville Grade School. She spent 35 years at the Ford County State Bank, allowing her to get to know so many Spearville area residents.

Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Monday, November 27, 2017 at 10:00 AM with Rev. John Forkuoh presiding.  Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery at Windthorst.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Sunday, November 26, 2017 from 12:00 to 3:00 PM. A Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 PM Sunday, November 26, 2017 at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Spearville.  Memorials are suggested to Hospice of The Prairie or Windthorst Heritage in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
