Obituary

Robert "Bob" G. Thomas, 77, died June 29, 2011 at his home in Dodge City. He was born on April 17, 1934 in Belpre, the son of Charles and Lucille (Martin) Thomas.

Bob was raised in Belpre and Cimarron. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Korea. On January 19, 1959, he married Loeta Mangels in Jetmore. She survives. Bob drove a truck for many different companies in the area. He loved watching sports and reading.

He was a member of the Howard Gotschall Post #1714 V.F.W of Dodge City.

In addition to his wife, Loeta, Mr. Thomas is survived by two sons, Kenny Thomas and wife Donna of Dodge City and Gary Thomas and wife Gina of Wichita; one son-in-law, Kent Roetzer of Dodge City; and seven grandchildren, Gayla Hewes and husband Brad of Dodge City, Harry Wolfenbarger of Ft. Lewis, Washington, Kylie and Shelbi Thomas of Wichita, and John, Brad and Trey Roetzer all of Dodge City. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Patricia "Trish" Roetzer on July 3, 2007.

Graveside service will be held at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at Fort Dodge on Friday, July 1, 2011 at 2:00 PM with Mr. Jeff Hiers presiding. Military rites will be provided by Howard Gotschall Post #1714, V.F.W. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, on Thursday, June 30, 2011 from noon to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Patriot Guard or to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure in care of the funeral home.
