Robert Kent
Kimbrel

Robert "Kent" Kimbrel, born December 26, 1956 to Robert D. and Doris M. (Bales) Kimbrel in Dodge City, Kansas. He passed away on March 18, 2026 at SunPorch of Dodge City, at the age of 69.
Kent went to Ensign elementary school and then graduated from Ensign High School, where he enjoyed playing basketball and went out for track. He held the school record in high jump for a time. Kent went on to Seward County Community College to play basketball.
On October 9, 1976, Kent was united in marriage to Nancy Schriner. He and Nancy lived in Ensign for a short time before moving to Dodge City. Kent worked at Ensign Implement as a parts man. He later worked for Broce Construction in the farming side of the operations with his father- in- law. Kent finished his working career at Murphy Tractor in Dodge City.
Kent struggled with Parkinson's disease since he was in his 40's and had been a resident of SunPorch nursing home in Dodge City since October 2019. He had an illness beginning on February 13, 2026 that weakened him even further and was in St. Joseph ICU for two week in February before coming back to SunPorch on hospice care.
Kent is survived by two sons, Ryan Kimbrel and wife Paula of Garden City and Nathan Kimbrel of Dodge City; grandchildren, Kelsey and Brayden of Garden Ctiy; brother, Rick Kimbrel and wife Lanna of Winfield; sister, Charlotte Sroka and husband John of Hamden, CT; nephew, Darrick Kimbrel of Hays, and nieces, Heather Pike and husband Jon of Wichita, Janet Sroka of Meriden, CT, and Karen Wesman of Foxborough, MA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Doris Kimbrel and wife Nancy.
Private family services will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery. There is no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to SunPorch of Dodge City patient activity fund in care of Swaim Funeral Chapel. Thoughts and memorial may be shared in the online guestbook at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
