ROBERT C. "BOB" SANDERS

Robert C. "Bob" Sanders, 73, died March 18, 2011 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. He was born on July 7, 1937 at Pratt, the son of Cleal and Neva (Cooley) Sanders.

Mr. Sanders attended schools in Pratt and graduated from Emporia State University with a degree in business. He married Vonda Smith on December 20, 1959 in Pratt. They moved from Wichita to Dodge City in 1971 and he worked for the General Adjustment Bureau (G.A.B.) as a claims adjuster. He later worked for Cimarron Insurance Company for about 15 years. Robert later worked as an independent insurance adjuster before retirement.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dodge City and also the Masonic Lodge and Midian Shrine Temple, both of Dodge City

Mr. Sanders is survived by his wife, Vonda J. Sanders, of Dodge City; a son, John and Carol Sanders of Dodge City; a sister, Marjorie Barker of Pratt; a granddaughter Rianann Sanders of Littleton, Colorado; a step grandson, Anthony and Adrian McPhail of Cimarron; two step great grandchildren, Zachary and Alivia McPhail, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Mary Jewell Peterson, and infant son Robert Eugene Sanders.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow at 3:00 P.M. at Greenlawn Cemetery in Pratt with Midian Shrine Temple ceremonies. Visitation will be on Monday, March 21, 2011 from Noon to 8:00 P.M. at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City. Memorials are suggested to The Shriner Childrens Hospitals in care of the funeral home.
