IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roland Chris
Koehn
June 18, 1980 – May 16, 2022
MONTEZUMA - My dear husband, our father, Roland Chris Koehn, was born on June 18, 1980 to Marlin and Diann (Koehn) Koehn in Dodge City. He quietly passed away on May 16, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Rol completed his schooling at the Montezuma Mennonite School. In his young years at home, he worked with his father in the trenching business. His love for the outdoors started as a boy. Hunting and fishing with his youth friends was a highlight. He accepted the Lord as his personal Savior and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite by Min. Harold H. Koehn on February 7, 1993. Although he had struggles in his Christian life, Rol recently renewed his commitment to God and was reaccepted into the Church. He passed away at peace with his Maker.
Rol was married to me, Krysta Zimmerman, on September 22, 2002. We shared life together for nearly 20 years. Our home was blessed with two sons, Aaron and Branson, and one daughter, Morgan. The first few years of our married life were spent in Mississippi and Alabama; later settling in Montezuma. Rol was a hard worker and held several different jobs, including working in the plumbing industry and as a surveyor for Max Jantz Excavating.
Rol loved his children and was honored to be their dad. He was always happy making memories with them, whether it was reading stories when they were little, making last minute trips to the lake, having fishing competitions, or going kayaking. Rol was a patient dad, teaching them how to fish and taking time to listen to his children talk about the ups and downs of their day. Our children's favorite memories surround the lake and spending time outdoors with their dad. Rol liked to sing and had a fun sense of humor. Other hobbies included grilling and smoking meat.
The last two years were difficult for Rol. He suffered from Chronic Pancreatitis and the resulting pain. Numerous hospital stays and days at home unable to work because of pain were his lot these last few years. Rol fought valiantly, always hoping for a cure. When it became evident a cure was not to be, he graciously accepted he would be going home.
He is survived by his wife, Krysta of Montezuma; three children, Aaron, Branson, and Morgan all of the home; his parents, Marlin and Diann Koehn of Macon, Mississippi; two sisters, Lynna Johnson and husband Fred of Macon, Mississippi and Charla Koehn and husband Tim of Swan River, Manitoba; mother-in-law, Jima Zimmerman of Montezuma; three sisters-in-law, Jennifer Martinez and husband Eddie, Charity Koehn and husband Presley, both of Montezuma, Carla Schmidt and husband Gerald of DeRidder, Louisiana; as well as nieces, nephews and friends.
