Cimarron - Ronald Burns, 83, died November 20, 2022 at his home in Cimarron. He was born on July 25, 1939 at Dodge City, the son of Frank and Viva (Baird) Burns.

A lifelong resident of Gray County, Ronald grew up and attended grade school in Kalvesta. He graduated from Cimarron High School. On August 18, 1961 he married Kay Coast in Cimarron. He was a custom harvester for many years, following the summer harvest season from Oklahoma to Montana.  He also owned trucking and farming operations in Gray County. He enjoyed his morning coffee group and was an avid fan of Ford Motor Company vehicles. Ronald was a hard worker and a friend to many.

He was a member of the Cimarron Church of the Nazarene.

Ronald is survived by his wife, Kay Burns of Cimarron; three children, Troy Burns and wife Pam of Dodge City; Rhonda Nyhus and husband Jeff of Olathe; and Trevon Burns and wife Trish of Cimarron; seven grandchildren, Tyler Burns and wife Danae of Auburn, Melissa McKenna and husband Kevin of Augusta; Miranda Shirley and husband Levi of Dodge City; Ellie Decker and husband Jacob of Olathe, Emma Nyhus of Olathe, and Gage and Mason Burns of Cimarron; three great grandchildren, Kaedrik Silsby, and Dawson and Otto Shirley; three brothers, Albert Burns and wife Betty, Jerry Burns and wife Grace, and Charles Burns and wife Vicki, all of Cimarron. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty Hamilton; and brother, Bill Burns.

Funeral service will be held at the Cimarron Church of the Nazarene on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Travis Janzen presiding. Burial will follow at Cimarron Cemetery.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel of Cimarron on Friday, November 25, 2022 from 1:00 to 8:00 PM with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.  Memorials are suggested to the Cimarron Church of the Nazarene in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com .
