Obituary

Ronald Lee Penick, 72, died November 17, 2011 at his home in Dodge City. He was born on February 5, 1939 in Elk City, Oklahoma, the son of Q. T. and Rose (Vaughn) Penick.

Ron attended school in Elk City. He married Ramona Roberts in December of 1956 in Elk City. They later divorced. He worked at Howard's Propane. In 1967, he moved to Dodge City. Ronald worked for Dave Gamble Chevrolet and then at Manis Glass and Body before opening his own body shop, Ron's Body Shop. He was a master painter and bodyman. Ron loved riding his motorcyle and would take his Honda Goldwing on poker runs on the weekend. He and Scott made an annual trip to the Indianapolis 500 where they would camp out. On June 15, 1991, he married Connie Suzanne Hudnett in Red River, New Mexico.

In addition to his wife Connie, Ron is survived by three daughters, Ronetta Henrichs and husband Kelly of Dodge City, Cyndi Marble and husband Jim of Kansas City, and Kendra Kingsbury and husband Mark also of Kansas City; two brothers, Travis Penick and Troy Penick both of Rogers, Arkansas; two sisters, Linda Young and Lynette Jones both of Tulsa, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Kevin Henrichs, Holly Deutsch and husband Ryan, Taylor Penick and wife April, Kyndell Penick, Colbie Penick, Kagan Kingsbury, Kiely Kingsbury, and Mariah Spellman; and one great grandson, Lawson Penick. He is preceded in death by his mother, Rose Hill; his father, Q.T. Penick; and one son, Scotty Lee Penick on September 10, 2006.

Memorial service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 2:00 with Rev. Lance Carrithers presiding. Inurnment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Prairie or to the First United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
