Copeland - Ronald Spanier, 76, died November 10, 2014 at the Satanta District Hospital in Satanta. He was born on August 2, 1938 in Garden City, the son of Eugene E. and Opal (Wilks) Spanier.

Ron was a lifetime resident of Copeland. He graduated from Copeland High School in 1957. On April 1, 1958, he married Sharon Fulkerson. She survives. Ron farmed with his father, brothers, and son in the Copeland area until his health would not allow it. They also raised cattle. Ron had a passion for flying, earning his pilots license in 1967. He also enjoyed riding horses and spending time with his family.

He was a member of the Christian Church of Copeland.

In addition to his wife Sharon of Copeland, Ron is survived by one son, Stuart Spanier of Copeland; three daughters, Gina Chaffin of Sublette, Michelle Spanier of Houston, Texas, and Denise Meairs of Santa Rosa, New Mexico; three brothers, Jerry Spanier of Copeland, Richard Spanier of Shell Beach, California; and Virgil Spanier of Buena Vista, Colorado; one sister, Karen Marshall of Frisco, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; two grandsons, Nicholas and Andru Chaffin; and a nephew, Ty Spanier.

Funeral service will be held at the Christian Church in Copeland on Friday, November 14, 2014 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Brad McCoy presiding. Burial will follow at Copeland Cemetery in Copeland. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Sublette on Thursday, November 13, 2014 from noon to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Copeland Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
