CIMARRON - Ronnell K. Schmidt, 55, died December 27, 2016 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City. She was born on February 18, 1961 at Garden City, the daughter of Kent and Shirley Mae (Dewitt) Erickson.

Ronnell was a 1979 graduate of Dodge City High School. She attended St. Mary of the Plains college and later Dodge City Community College. She was a dispatcher with the Dodge City Police Department and later worked at First National Bank in Dodge. On April 9, 1994 she married Danny Schmidt at Dodge City. Ronnell was a mother and homemaker for the last 18 years and also during this time was a wedding and event decorator. She was devoted to the well being of her family. Ronnell loved going to the beach and loved animals.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dodge City.

Ronnell is survived by her husband, Danny Schmidt of Cimarron; four children, Samantha Schmidt, Zachary Schmidt, Cassidy Schmidt and Nicholas Schmidt all of the home; her father, Kent Erickson of Dodge City; and brother, Russ Erickson of Dodge City.She was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Mae Erickson.

Memorial service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City on Saturday December 31, 2016 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Jerre Nolte presiding. There will be a book signing at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City on Friday December 30, 2016 from 9:00 AM. to 4:00 PM.
