Obituary

DODGE CITY - Rosie Sandoval, 88, passed away on November 25, 2020 at the Hays Medical Center, Hays. She was born on August 24, 1932 at Bellefont, the daughter of Jesus and Manuela (Olivarez) Guerrero.

Rosie grew up in Hugoton and attended school in Hugoton. On August 5, 1950 she married Richard Sandoval at Clayton, New Mexico. After their marriage they moved to Dodge City where she has resided since. Rosie started working at St. Anthony Hospital in Dodge City and later with Western Plains Medical Complex where she was a Surgical Scrub Tech assisting in numerous surgeries. She also was the Sterile Central Supply supervisor at the hospital always making sure the surgical instruments were sterile and ready for the next surgery. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the church Altar Society and past board member of the Sacred Heart School.

Rosie is survived by her daughter, Roberta Ney and husband John of Dodge City; two sons, Chris Sandoval of Kansas City, Missouri and Todd Sandoval and wife Dr. Andrea Sandoval of Hays; four grandchildren, Benjamin Ney of Dodge City, Brian Ney and wife Meredith of Olathe, Carrie Torres and husband Isac of Lewisville, Texas, and Julie Mazouch and husband Chris of Great Bend; 10 great grandchildren; and four sisters, Mary Romero and Josie Orosco both of Hugoton, Susie Medina of Springdale, Arkansas and Mary Jane Lopez of Dodge City.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Sandoval; three brothers, Manuel, Junior, and Joe B. Guerrero; and a sister, Elvira Medina.

Vigil service will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday, November 30, 2020 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Funeral Mass will be held at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Tuesday December  1, 2020 at 10:00 AM with Fr. Pascal Klein presiding.  Private family burial will be at Scroggins Memorial Mausoleum in Dodge City.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Monday November 30, 2020 from Noon to 5:00PM.  Memorials are suggested to the Manna House in care of the funeral home.  Please wear a mask if you plan on attending the visitation, vigil, or mass and try to maintain social distancing if possible.
