Rudy M. "The Godfather" Esquibel, 66, died September 19, 2011 at Good Samaritan Center in Dodge City. He was born on October 18, 1944 in Dodge City, the son of Rudy and Frances (Gonzalez) Esquibel, Sr.
Rudy was an inspiration to many individuals. He was inducted into the Kansas Softball Hall of Honor for a lifetime of dedication to the sport.
Rudy is survived by one son, Sabin Esquibel of Dodge City; his mother, Frances Ontiveros of Dodge City; two brothers, Jerry Ontiveros of Woodland, California and Leo Ontiveros of Dodge City; and one sister, Rita Ontiveros of Protection. He is preceded in death by his father, Rudy Esquibel, Sr.; one brother, Teddy Ontiveros; and his dad, Alex Ontiveros.
Funeral service will be held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City, on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 9:30 AM with Rev. Ted Skalsky presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Vigil service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, on Friday, September 23, 2011 at 7:00 PM. At Rudy's request, there is no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Rudy Esquibel Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
