Rufus Milton Woods, Jr., 95, of Cimarron, Kansas, was led by his Savior, Jesus Christ, to his heavenly home on February 4, 2026. Junior was born to Rufus and Ruby Freidland Woods on June 21, 1930, at the family's farm near Kalvesta, Kansas.
In the mid-1940s, Junior met the love of his life, when Ramona Diane Paine moved to Kalvesta. The couple was married on May 5, 1947, in the church parsonage at the Kalvesta Church of the Nazarene. Junior was a lifetime farmer in Kalvesta. He and Ramona, alongside his dad, mom, siblings, and children, raised many wheat and corn crops.
Junior was happiest when was farming. He was a humble man who found his greatest joy in his family, his farming and his faith in Christ. He had a lifelong love of country music and square dancing. He was a great teacher of both and eagerly passed his love of them to his children, grandkids, and friends. In the final days and hours of his life, he clearly expressed that he was ready to meet his Savior face to face. His biggest concern was for those who do not know Christ as Savior.
Junior and Ramona were members of Cimarron Church of the Nazarene for a number of years. They served on a mission trip to Guatemala during that time.
Junior is survived by six children: Becky Dumler and husband Roger of Kalvesta; Ruthi Ostgulen and husband Bob of Olathe; Rosemary Smith and husband Garry of Holton; Roger Woods and wife Sandy of Georgetown, Texas; Sue Cossman of rural Jetmore; Ray Dean "Dino" and wife Ginger of Woodward, Oklahoma; and daughter-in-law Donna Woods of Cimarron. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren, 19 great-great-grandchildren, two sisters, Linda Rankin and husband Mike of Dodge City; Glenda O'bleness of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 1 brother, Ben Woods, of Cimarron, and sister-in-law, Shirley Woods of Kalvesta.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ramona; one son, Rufus "Rusty" Woods III; one grandson, Preston Wayne Smith; one son-in-law, Gary Cossman; five brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at Cimarron Church of the Nazarene on Monday, February 9, 2026 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Tom Boese presiding. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Cimarron, on Sunday, February 8, 2026 from 3 - 6 pm. Burial will follow at Cimarron Cemetery.
