Dodge City - Ruth Ann Bridges, 88, died November 18, 2018 at Manor of the Plains in Dodge City.  She was born on January 16, 1930 at Kansas City, Kansas the daughter of George and Edna (Williamsen) Mears.

She married Fred Casterline Jr. in 1950, and later married Jarrell Bridges in 1995, he preceded her in death in 2014. Ruth Ann attended school in Kansas City, and then graduated from Kansas State University in 1950 with a degree in history. She worked for the Royal Purple Yearbook in Manhattan until Fred graduated and joined the Air Force. They moved around the country until Fred was discharged from the Air Force. After Fred was discharged they settled in Dodge City, where she spent the rest of her life.

Ruth Ann was very active in the PTA as her children grew up, and very rarely missed any sports or school activities they, or her grandchildren participated in. She was also very active in the First Presbyterian Church, PEO, and several bridge clubs. She absolutely loved spending time in Cascade, Colorado at the family cabin. She always had a smile on her face and was a fun loving woman at heart with a terrific sense of humor.

She is survived by two children, Carl Casterline and Elaine Gall both of Dodge City. She is also survived by five grandchildren Jessica Gregory and husband Paul; Kari Casterline; Dustin Gall and wife Jessica; David Casterline and wife Jamie and Lisa Ellis and husband Chasse as well as six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Annora, George, Bob and Ron Mears, and one son, Charles Casterline.

Memorial service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Saturday November 24, 2018 at 10:00 AM with Kevin Salzman presiding. Inurnment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Prairie or the Ford County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
