Dodge City - Ruth Estes, 92, died March 5, 2013 at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains, Dodge City. She was born on May 24, 1920 at Kismet, the daughter of Edward and Pauline (Belan) Kiley. She grew up in Kismet and graduated from Kismet High School. She then attended Wichita State University.
Ruth married Ralph Gordon Estes on September 10, 1940 in Dodge City. She worked at McKinley Winter of Dodge City for many years retiring in 1984 and later for Max Estes Law Firm for ten years. Ruth sold Community Concert Tickets and enjoyed playing Bridge weekly.
She was a member of Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe and the Altar Society, Moose Lodge and Beta Sigma Phi all of Dodge City.
Ruth is survived by three sons, Eddie Estes and wife Cindy and Ralph Estes, Jr. and wife Theresa both of Dodge City and Max Estes and wife Carolyn of Denton, Texas; a daughter Trudi Sells and husband Jim of Emporia; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; a great great granddaughter; two brothers, Pat Kiley of Colorado and Eddie Kiley of Arkansas; three sisters, June Aley of Wyoming, Irene Blackmore of Ulysses and Annie Morgan of Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Ralph on March 20, 1984.
A Vigil service will be held at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe of Dodge City on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 7:00 P.M.. Funeral Mass will be held at the church on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Ted Skalsky Celebrating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City from Noon to 5:00 P.M. on Thursday March 7, 2013. Memorials are suggested to Hospice Of The Prairie in care of the funeral home.
