Ruth Catheen (Gill) Stuart, 89, died Friday, July 23, 2010 at Hill Top House in Bucklin. She was born on January 11, 1921 in Dodge City, the daughter of R. Guy and Eula Esther (May) Gill.

Ruth graduated from St. Mary's Academy and St. Anthony Hospital School of Nursing both of Dodge City. She worked as a surgical nurse in Harper and Attica. Ruth then worked as a school nurse in Attica, Dodge City, and Nickerson. On December 26, 1942, she married Daniel V. Stuart at Medford, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on February 1, 2008. From 1946 to 1965, they lived in Harper County and farmed. Later, they moved to Hutchinson. In 1974, they moved to Garden City and then to Dodge City in 1976 where they lived before moving to Bucklin in 2002.

She was a member of First Christian Church of Attica.

Ruth is survived by one son, James C. Stuart and wife Teresa of Bucklin; one daughter, Dana C. Stuart of Wichita; two brothers, Richard Gill and wife Alice of Edmonds, Washington and Donald Gill and wife Joan of Harper. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 10:30 AM with Lori Hensley presiding. Burial will follow at Ford Cemetery in Ford. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Monday, July 26, 2010 from noon to 8:00 PM. Memorials can be made to the Hill Top House or to Hospice of the Prairie in care of the funeral home.
