DODGE CITY - Sally Beth Ubel, 79, died September 12, 2014 at Trinity Manor Nursing Home, Dodge City. She was born on April 27, 1935 at Wamego, the daughter of Hugh and Caroline (Smith) Miracle.
Sally was a graduate of Wamego High School and attended Kansas State Teachers College (Emporia State). On September 16, 1956 she married Don Ubel at the Presbyterian Church in Wamego. She was the nutrition and health coordinator for the USD 443 Head Start program. Sally was active in the Girl Scouts where she served as the cookie chairman for many years. An accomplished athlete in many sports, she was an avid golfer most of her life and was good enough to play on the boys' golf team during high school. She enjoyed attending her grandchildrens' sporting events, concerts, plays and graduations. Companions to the end, she and Don traveled extensivly throughout the United States.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Dodge City.
Sally is survived by her husband, Don Ubel of Dodge City; three daughters, Linda McMulkin and husband Mike of Colorado City, Colorado, Debra Vance and husband Jack of Wichita, and Janet Arbogast of Overland Park; a son, David Ubel and wife Mary of Dodge City; six grandchildren; a brother, Ross Miracle of Loveland, Colorado; and two sisters, Jane Goeckler of Silver Lake and Madge McDonald of Wamego.
Memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church on Monday, September 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Barney Korbelik, C.R.E. presiding. There will be no public visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to the Tumbleweed Council of Girl Scouts of America in care of the funeral home.
