Dodge City - Samuel Eduardo Marquez, 34, died January 31, 2021 in Dodge City.  He was born on December 25, 1986 in Chihuahua, Mexico, the son of Ismael and Ruth Marquez.

Samuel spent his childhood in Chihuahua, Mexico before his family moved to Dodge City in 1993. He attended school in Dodge City, graduating from Dodge City High School.

Samuel was a hard worker, currently working at Wessel Iron Supply. He was a very friendly and happy person, and could talk to anyone as if he had known them forever. Samuel loved his family and was a good father to his children. He also enjoyed singing and playing guitar.

He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe of Dodge City.

Samuel is survived by his parents, Ismael and Ruth Marquez; his children, Maritza Janet Marquez, Jhianni Samuel Marquez, and Kendra Marquez; brother, Daniel Marquez of Dodge City; sister, Lizbeth Ontiveros and husband Jesus of Dodge City; nephews, Adrien, Jesus, and Elias; his girlfriend, Ofelia Aguilar; as well as many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Isauro Marquez; and his great grandmother, Angelita Loya.

Funeral mass will be held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Dodge City on Thursday, February  4, 2021 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Wesley Schawe presiding.  Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Dodge City on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM with a vigil service to follow at 7:00 PM at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe.  Memorials are suggested to the Samuel Marquez Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
