Dodge City - Santa Perez Hernandez, 66, died May 24, 2025 at her home in Dodge City.  She was born on March 26, 1959 in Zacatepec Mor, Mexico, the daughter of Angel Perez and Albina Hernandez.

Santa spent her childhood in Mexico.  In 2007, she moved to the United States.  She stayed at home to care for her family.  After her children were older, she worked at both Cargill and National Beef.  Santa loved to travel and traveled frequently to Mexico to visit her family.  She enjoyed shopping, cooking, and going out to eat with friends and family.  Santa loved her children and grandchildren and spending time with them.

Santa is survived by five daughters, Sandra Castañeda and husband Aaron, Patricia Guerra and husband Efren, Estefania Melgoza and husband Carlos Martinez, Francelia Melgoza and fiancé, Alvaro all of Dodge City, and Michelle Medina of Cancún, Mexico; three sons, Dorian Ortiz and wife Sarahy Carrillo of Chicago, Illinois, Ivan Perez and wife Jacqueline of New York City, New York, and Hugo Perez and wife Jessica Rodriquez of Chicago, Illinois; 21 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; her mother, Albina Hernandez of Zacatepec Mor, Mexico; and four sisters.  She is preceded in death by one brother, one sister, and two great grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be held at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City, on Friday, May 30, 2025 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Wesley Schawe presiding.  Cremation will follow and a private family burial will be at a later date. Vigil service will be on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Sus tres hijos, Dorian Ortiz y su esposa Sarahy Carrillo, de Chicago, Illinois; Iván Pérez y su esposa Jacqueline, de la ciudad de Nueva York, Nueva York; y Hugo Pérez y su esposa Jessica Rodríguez, de Chicago, Illinois; sus 21 nietos; sus tres bisnietos; su madre, Albina Hernández, de Zacatepec, México; y sus cuatro hermanas. Le precedieron en la muerte un hermano, una hermana y dos bisnietos.

La misa funebre se celebrará en la Catedral de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, en Dodge City, el viernes 30 de mayo de 2025 a las 10:00 a. m., presidida por el reverendo Wesley Schawe. Posteriormente, se realizará la cremación y un entierro familiar privado. La vigilia se realizará el jueves 29 de mayo de 2025 en la Catedral de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. El velatorio se realizará en la Funeraria Swaim el jueves 29 de mayo de 2025, desde el mediodia a 5:00 p. m. Las donaciones se sugieren a la familia.
