Obituary

Dodge City - Sharlene Roesener, 57, died September 1, 2022 at Azria Health in Wichita.  She was born on May 23, 1965 in Dodge City, the daughter of Gary and Marilyn (Sanders) Ives.

Sharlene lived with her parents and sisters on the family farm northeast of Cimarron.  She graduated from Cimarron High School in May of 1984.  On September 8, 1984, Sharlene was united in marriage to David Roesener.  After their marriage, they made their home on the Roesener farm south of Dodge City.  To this union were born two sons, Josh and Andy.

Sharlene helped out on the farm, driving a tractor and feeding cattle when needed. She also worked at Gibson Pharmacy and Dillon's garden center.  For the last 18 years, Sharlene was the manager of the Boot Hill Gift Shop.  She enjoyed gardening and scrapbooking.  Sharlene also was an animal lover and raised many bucket calves.

She was a member of Christ The King Lutheran Church, Dodge City and was a 4-H Leader for the DIY jrs.

Sharlene is survived by her husband David of the home; two sons, Josh Roesener and Andy Roesener and wife Cecilia all of Dodge City; three sisters, Lisa Jackson and husband Mike of Dodge City, Denise Weaver and husband Todd of Andover, and Kristy Kugler and husband Allen of Cimarron; a brother-in-law, Bill Roesener and wife Linda of Manhattan, Montana; and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Smalley and husband Don of Dodge City.  She is preceded in death by her parents; mother and father-in-law, Werner and Dorothy Roesener; and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Roesener.

Memorial service will be held at Christ The King Lutheran Church, Dodge City on Wednesday, September  7, 2022 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Corky Spitler presiding. Burial will follow at Christ The King Lutheran Cemetery in Ford County.  Book signing will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Dodge City on Tuesday, September  6, 2022 from noon to 5:00 PM.  Memorials are suggested to Christ The King Lutheran Church or Boot Hill Museum in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
