Cimarron - Shirley Jean Ellis, 79, died March 8, 2022 at The Shepard's Center, Cimarron.  She was born on August 9, 1942 in Pratt, the daughter of Samuel "Roy" and Virginia Irene (Ratlief) Ellis.

Shirley grew up in Cunningham and later moved to Pratt. After her parents passed, she moved to Dodge City and resided at Arrowhead West. She worked at Trinity Laundry and at Arrowhead West shops. In 2009, she moved to The Shepherd's Center in Cimarron where she was greatly treasured. Shirley enjoyed Christian concerts and attending the activities the nursing home provided and also loved to read. She attended First Assembly of God Church in Dodge City.

Shirley is survived by a brother, Sherman Ellis and wife, Charlotte of Wichita; a sister, Virginia Galliart and husband, Steve of Cimarron; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Norman "Shorty" Ellis; and a nephew, Ricky Ellis.

Graveside service will be held at Maud Cemetery in Cunningham on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 1:00 PM with David Johnson presiding. Memorials are suggested to The Shepherd's Center in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
