Dodge City - Socorro Mercado De Llamas, 85, died January 13, 2018 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City. She was born on January 8, 1933 at Tenamaxtlan, Mexico the daughter of Andres Mercado and Anastacia Loza.
Socorro grew up in Mexico and later moved to California. On June 1, 1955 she married Moises Llamas in Mexico. She worked for Contadina Cannery in Davis, California. Socorro enjoyed spending time with her family. She helped her daughter and son-in-law, Rocio and Javier Alvarez in the family restaurant Casa Alvarez.
She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Dodge City.
Socorro is survived by three daughters, Alina Hernandez of Dodge City, Rocio Alvarez of Dodge City, and Maribel Cardenas of Freemont, Nebraska; a son Moises Llamas of Grand Island, Nebraska; 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Moises Llamsas.
Vigil service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Friday January 19, 2018 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Wesley Schawe presiding. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Thursday January 18, 2018 from Noon to 7:00 PM. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
