Dodge City - Socorro Eloy Nieto, 71, died April 2, 2021 at Via Christi St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita.  He was born on May 22, 1949 at Chihuahua, Mexico the son of Daniel and Maria (Zubia) Nieto.

He married Velia Miramaontes on December 12, 1972 in Chihuahua, Mexico, she survives. Mr. Nieto loved spending time with his family and friends and collecting model farm animals. He loved making funny faces and making people laugh. He also loved riding horses in his spare time.

He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

He is survived by his wife Velia of the home; two sons Eloy and wife Elizabeth Nieto-Alarcon of Dodge City; Ivan and wife Monica Nieto of Midland, Texas; four grandchildren and four living brothers and sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two children and four brothers and sisters.

Funeral Mass will be held at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Wesley Schawe presiding.  Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City.  Visitation will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 from 12:00PM to 5:00 P.M. Vigil service will be held on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 7:00 PM at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe.  Memorials are suggested to Socorro Eloy Nieto Memorial Fund  in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
