Satanta - Sonia Rodriguez, 55, died November 22, 2019 at her sister's home in Ulysses after a long battle with cancer. She was born on June 9, 1964 in Mexico, the daughter of Simon and Maria Rodriguez.

As a young child, Sonia came to the United States with her family. The family moved to Satanta and Sonia attended Satanta schools. Sonia worked at the Satanta District Hospital and the Satanta and Sublette Post Offices, cleaning for all three.  She enjoyed watching football and softball games, cookouts with her family, and going for her daily Pepsi.

Sonia is survived by her mother, Maria Rodriguez of Satanta; five siblings, Rojelio Rodriguez of Satanta, Teresa Garza and husband Ramiro of Ulysses, Patricia Herrera and husband Gerardo of Dodge City; Ana Andrade and husband Arturo of Ulysses, and Ricardo Rodriguez of Ulysses. She is preceded in death by her father, Simon; two brothers, Ruben  and Simon Rodriguez; and a niece, Yesenia Rodriguez.

Funeral service will be held at Jesus Christ One Way Church, Satanta on Monday November 25, 2019 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Mike Garza presiding. Burial will follow at Dudley Township Cemetery in Satanta. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Sublette on Sunday November 24, 2019 from noon to 8:00 PM.
