Obituary

Montezuma - Stanley Boehs, 65, died February 8, 2013 at Bethel Home, in Montezuma. He was born on March 12, 1947 at Fairview, Oklahoma, the son of Elmer and Frances (Penner) Boehs.

Born brain-damaged at birth, he lived in a different world. He walked a quiet path but wove himself into the fabric of our close-knit family, and we will never be the same. Just because he was different did not keep us from learning from him. He has given of himself in ways that convince us he was a special gift.

Stanley attended Progressive School at Fairview for eight years. He gave his heart to the Lord and was baptized December 1, 1963. He was always happy when he heard of someone who had changed their ways and came to the Lord. His interest in people led him to recording and memorizing birth dates and often calling to wish them a happy day. He gave his unconditional approval and love to his relatives and friends.

We rejoice to know that death holds no fear and now he is free and happy with Jesus and those waiting on the other shore.

Those left to cherish many memories are two brothers, Milton and LaVerda Boehs of Lakin and Kendall and Rosanna Boehs of Mountain Grove, Missouri; five sisters, Marjorie and Delbert Hiebert of Middleton, Michigan; Virginia and Alton Unruh of Greensburg; Polly and Bob Schneider of Perrinton, Michigan; Elaine and James Nightengale of Scott City; and Maureen and Denton Koehn of Ulysses; and 22 nieces and nephews who dearly loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents and two nephews.

Funeral service will be held at Fairview Mennonite Church on Monday, February 11, 2013 at 10:30 AM with Ministers Randy Levings, Keith Nightingale, and Denton Koehn presiding. Burial will follow at Cedar Cemetery in Fairview. Visitation will be at Bethel Home in Montezuma on Saturday, February 9, 2013 from 4:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. Memorials are suggested to Gospel Mennonite Tracts in care of Swaim Funeral Chapel of Montezuma - P.O. Box 421 - Montezuma, KS 67867.
