Stephen Craig Michael, Sr., 72, passed away on September 14, 2026, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He was born on February 8, 1954 in Terre Haute, Indiana, to Roger and Sharon (Pierce) Michael.

Stephen grew up in Indiana and joined the US Marines during high school. He moved to Dodge City in the early 80's and married Shirley Clark in Dodge City. Stephen was a long haul truck driver, mechanic and later a shag driver for Kar LTD of Dodge City.

He enjoyed fishing and working on lawn mowers and was a member to the American Legion in Dodge City.

Stephen is survived by his wife, Shirley Michael of Minneola; children, Heather Michael, Nicole Michael and Stephen Michael, Jr.; step children, Joy Renteria and Kevin Michael; siblings, Rexan,Tammy, Kevin, Billy, Theresa, and Cheryl ; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Swaim Funeral Chapel of Dodge City. Visitation will be from 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at the funeral chapel. Burial will follow the funeral at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City.
