Copeland - Steve Tucker, 67, died December 31, 2016 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. He was born on August 3, 1949 in Montezuma, the son of Wayne and Alrena (Unruh) Tucker.

Steve was a lifetime resident of Gray County. He graduated from Montezuma High School in 1967. After graduation, he went to Fort Hays State University for one year. Steve then enlisted in the United States Army and served his country from 1969-1970 in Vietnam. After returning from the war, he then attended Dodge City Community College. On June 1, 1974, he married Roxie Jones at the Copeland United Methodist Church. She survives. Steve was a farmer and stockman. He was very active in the Copeland American Legion and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was a member of the Copeland American Legion Post #369 and the Howard Gotschall Post 1714 V.F.W. of Dodge City .

In addition to his wife Roxie, Steve is survived by a daughter, Geneva Tucker of Tooele, Utah; one brother, Bob Tucker and wife Alee of Copeland; four sisters, Nancy Dotts and husband Floyd of Montezuma, Rita Ewoldt and husband Bernard of Valentine, Nebraska, Donna Stark of Copeland, and Carla Shewey and husband Mike of Dodge City. He is preceded in death by his parents and one niece, Rebecca Ewoldt.

Funeral service will be held at Copeland United Methodist Church on Wednesday January 4, 2017 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Javier Martinez and Rev. Jerry Odle presiding. Burial will follow at Copeland Cemetery with military rites by Copeland American Legion and the KSARNG Military Honors. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Montezuma on Tuesday January 3, 2017 from 12:00-8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Copeland Methodist Church or to the Copeland American Legion in care of the funeral home.
