SUBLETTE - Suwayne French-Williams, 78, died January 7, 2013 in Montezuma. She was born on December 10, 1934 at Dodge City, the daughter of Leonard William and Loetta Mary (Phoenix) Obenhaus.
She moved with her parents to Sublette in 1937 and graduated from Sublette High School. On July 20, 1952 she married Russell W. French at Sublette. He preceded her in death on July 29, 1978. She later married Robert L. Williams on December 18, 1988 at Sublette. He preceded her in death on September 9, 1990. Suwayne served as Haskell County Clerk from 1972 until her retirement in 2000. She enjoyed her afternoon "Coffee Gang" for cards, dominoes, and friendship. Suwayne loved her grandchildren and enjoyed following their activities. She especially loved her "greats".
Mrs. Williams was a member of the Sublette Christian Church.
Suwayne is survived by a son, Russell W. French II and wife Tammy of Amarillo, Texas; two daughters, Brona Wiswell and husband Chet and Kamela Wright and husband Warren both of Montezuma; seven grandchildren, Todd Wiswell and wife Rogie, Lara Evans and husband Ryan, Kayla Wiswell, Brett French, Lindsay Langton and husband Barrett, Collin Wright, and Whitney Wright; and three great grandchildren, Hunter Wiswell, Aspen Wiswell, and Austin Evans.
Funeral service will be held at the Sublette Christian Church on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 10:30 AM with Pastor David Erwin presiding. Burial will follow at the Haskell County Cemetery in Sublette. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel of Sublette on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 from noon to 8:00 PM.
