Dodge City - Terry Frisbie, 75, died August 15, 2025 at Manor of the Plains in Dodge City. He was born on January 24, 1950 in St. John, KS, the son of James and Evelyn (Miller) Frisbie Jr.
Terry spent his childhood in Pratt where he graduated from Pratt High School in 1968. Following graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War. After he was honorably discharged, Terry returned to Kansas and enrolled at Pittsburg State University where he earned his bachelor's degree. Terry then moved to Dodge City and took a job at High Plains Journal. After 35 years in publishing, he retired in 2014. He married Linda Schweitzer on December 11, 1989.
He enjoyed woodworking and fishing. Terry was a master tinkerer and Mr. Fix It. His creativity led him into all kinds of projects that he embraced with a passion. Though Terry wasn't a big sports fan, Chiefs Sundays became a family tradition. His kindness will be greatly missed.
Terry is survived by his wife, Linda of Dodge City; a son, Derek Schweitzer of Topeka, KS; two sisters, Connie Buchner of Fowler, CO and Kay Gifford and husband Dan of Kechi, KS; sister-in-law Mendy Olivarez and husband Ron of Dodge City, brother-in-law Park Schweitzer and wife Lori of Holly, CO; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, Mike Buchner; and a nephew.
Memorial service will be held at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery, Fort Dodge on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 11:00 AM with military honors by Southwest Kansas Veterans Funeral Honors and the KSARNG Funeral Honors. There is no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Ford County EMS in care of Swaim Funeral Chapel.
