Terry N. Rhoten, 72, died May 2, 2011 at his home in Dodge City. He was born on November 6, 1938 in Thomas County, the son of Carl and Grace (McAfoos) Rhoten.
Terry grew up in Rexford and graduated from Rexford High School in 1956. He married Novella Mart on October 3, 1958 in Rexford. They moved to Wichita after their marriage. In the spring of 1959, they moved to Dodge City. Terry worked for L & M Tractor in the parts department. In 1965, Terry bought the Honda dealership in Dodge City which he owned and operated for 10 years. He then ran a custom baling operation until 1979. Terry then went to work at Perrier Feedyard as a mechanic. He enjoyed watching motor cross racing and was an avid history buff.
Terry is survived by his wife, Novella Rhoten of Dodge City; three sons, Darren Rhoten and wife Beth of Dodge City, Troy Rhoten and wife Lisa of Montrose, Colorado, and Sean Rhoten and wife Sylva of Murrieta, California; step-brother, John Richards of Nebraska; and six grandchildren.He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one grandson, Dylan Rhoten.
Memorial service will be held at Wilroads Gardens Christian Church in Dodge City on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Mr. Jeff Hiers presiding.
