Dodge City - Theresa Vasquez, 87, died April 30, 2018 at her home in Dodge City. She was born on July 21, 1930 at Lowe, Kansas the daughter of Felix and Rosa (Ortiz) Arteaga.

Theresa grew up in Garden City. On September 8, 1946 she married Victor Vasquez in Garden City. She was a homemaker who stayed home to raise her family.  Theresa was a very crafty person who made crochet blankets and quilts that she gave to her family and friends. She loved being with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Dodge City.

Theresa is survived by her husband, Victor C. Vasquez of Dodge City; three sons, Victor Vasquez, Jr and wife Rhonda of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Raul Vasquez and wife Vickie of Wichita, and Gilbert Vasquez of Arizona; two daughters, Rachael Fernandez and husband Leonard of Dodge City and Mary Rose Vasquez of Dodge City; 13 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; two brothers, Jesse and Juan Arteaga of Garden City; and four sisters, Elvira Rangel of Garden City, Margaret Otero of Garden City, Cathy Velasquez of Ulysses, and Ann Jenkins of Edmond, Oklahoma.She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Tony Arteaga.

Vigil service will be held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Friday, May 4, 2018 at 7:30 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at the church on Saturday May 5, 2018 at 10:00 AM.  Burial will follow at Greencrest Cemetery in Dodge City.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Friday, May 4, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  Memorials are suggested to the Theresa Vasquez Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
