Dodge City – Thomas Leon Hertel, 71, died May 31, 2022 at Life Care Hospital in Dallas, Texas.  He was born on May 20, 1951 at Dodge City, Kansas the son of Edwin "Eddie" and Catherine (Kinkelaar) Hertel.

He married Robin Fogleman on August 16, 2016 in Santa Monica, California, she survives. Tom was owner of Tom Hertel Trucking and was also engaged in farming. He loved to go dancing and to teach people how to two step. Tom also loved to Karaoke and to tell jokes. He was a very hard working man devoting his life to his trucking and farming operations.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council #2955 all of Dodge City.

He is survived by his wife Robin of the home; one son Matthew Hertel of Spearville; one daughter Haley Pruitt and husband Jeremy of Utah; stepson Colby Mowry and wife Bobbi of Missouri; two brothers Marvin Hertel and wife Pamela of Ensign; Dennis Hertel and wife Bev of Dodge City and one sister Vickie Pegram and husband Harry of Ensign. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren Eli, Jasper, Weston, Tyler, Gracie, Breyton and Kaisley. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Eddie and Catherine Hertel and one nephew Cade Denton Hertel.

Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday June 10, 2022 at 10:00 AM with Fr. Rudin Din presiding. Private burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM.  Vigil service will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 7:00 PM at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Dodge City.
