Obituary

Wichita – Timothy James Martinez, 63, made it to the gates of Heaven on June 25, 2022.  He was born on July 21, 1958 in Dodge City, Kansas the loving son of Joseph Q. and Stella (Blea) Martinez.

Tim was a remarkable, hardworking, loving father, grandfather and son who enjoyed the simple things in life like bike rides, fishing, cruising, music and quality time with family and friends. Most of his life was dedicated to working in the construction field and the rest to helping other regardless if he knew them or not. These things are what brought joy to his life.

He served in the United States Army, was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, GI Forum and Howard Gotschall V.F.W. Post #1714 all of Dodge City.

He is survived by his mother, Stella Martinez; one son, Timothy Martinez Jr. and wife Mindy of Wichita; two daughters, Jessica Martinez and companion Erik Sanchez of Wichita, and Marina Martinez and companion Rigo Villalba of Wichita; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; five sisters, Rachael and husband Geronimo Holguin of Lewis, Connie and husband Manuel Marquez of Dodge City, Cindy Ruiz and late husband, Eduardo Ruiz of Dodge City, Mary Ann and husband Prudencio Holguin of Lewis, and Rose and husband Steve Chilcoat of Overland Park. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Q. Martinez; wife, Juana Quinones; as well as two brothers, Raymond Martinez and Joseph Martinez.

Funeral mass will be held at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Dodge City on Friday, July 1, 2022 at 10:00 AM with Rev.Wesley Schawe presiding.  Burial with military honors will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Dodge City on Thursday, June 30, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Vigil service will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday, June 30, 2022 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Memorials are suggested to Timothy Martinez Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
