Dodge City - Thomas Perez Sr., 78, died May 22, 2021 at his home in Dodge City. He was born on January 17, 1943 at Dodge City, the son of Tony Perez and Mary (Garcia) Martinez.
Tom married Helen Blea on October 29, 1959 in Dodge City, she preceded him in death on October 11, 2020, the two are now together again. Tom loved to golf; playing in many Mexican American golf tournaments. He also enjoyed traveling and going to casinos. Tom was the first person in Kansas to be certified front end alignment.
He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Dodge City, the Knights of Columbus, as well as a member of the American GI Forum.
Tom is survived by four daughters, Annette Smith and husband James Jr. of Grove, Oklahoma, Yvonne Randall and husband Steve of Grove, Oklahoma, Tillie Stoltz and husband Daniel of Dodge City, and Lisa Montoya and companion Max Gonzalez of Dodge City; two sons, Tom Perez and wife Alice of Dodge City, and Joe Perez of Dodge City; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Gloria Vidaurri of Vista, California, and Emma Scherbring of Ridgecrest, California; brother, Tony Perez; and his puppy that he adored, Ellie Emma Perez. He was preceded in death by his father and mother in law, Tony and Maria Perez; mother and father in law, Mary and Jimmy Martinez; sisters, Rosie Perez Clair, Josie Perez Clair and Matilda Perez; and brothers, Danny Perez, Louis Perez, Fernie Perez, and Jerry Perez.
A rosary will be held at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Dodge City on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 10:00 AM, with the funeral mass to follow at 10:30 AM. The rosary and mass will be live streamed on the Swaim Funeral Chapel Facebook page. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Dodge City on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Cancer Center of Kansas in care of the funeral home.
