Cimarron - Travis Woody, 102, died May 18, 2021 at the Shepherd Center in Cimarron, Kansas.  She was born on February 19, 1919 at Rodney, Arkansas, to Benjamin H. and Rose Woodcock Dewey.

Travis attended school in Calico Rock, Arkansas and graduated from the University of Arkansas. She taught high school math until her enlistment in the United States Army. Sgt. Dewey served as an Engineering Aide in Ballistics, computing coordinates to drop bombs.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Cimarron, Kansas.

On May 5, 1946, Travis married Howard G. Woody, he preceded her in death.

Travis spent her adult life teaching high school math and working at the Cimarron Insurance Company. She volunteered at the Gray-Co Over 50 Center, Food and Fellowship and delivering Meals on Wheels. She loved to garden and quilt and especially enjoyed spending time with family.

Travis is survived by her daughters, Linda "Woody" Sutterfield and husband Gary of Wakarusa, Kansas, Joyce Eggert and husband Ken of Holiday Island, Arkansas, Bonnie Swartz and husband Mike of Cimarron, Kansas, and Vicki "Stick" Brown and husband Tim of Eureka Springs, Arkansas; daughter in law, Becky Woody of Cimarron, Kansas; eight grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Howard G. Woody Jr.; and daughter, Nancy Joann Woody.

Graveside service will be held at the Beaver Cemetery in Beaver, Arkansas on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at 2:00 In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Shepherd Center, 101 Cedar Ridge Dr. Cimarron, Kansas.
