Twyla J. Mayrath- Myers, 89, died June 2, 2011in Wichita. She was born on October 16, 1921 at Anderson, Indiana the daughter of John W. and Maude (Barnes) Hutton .
Twyla grew up in Anderson, Indiana and graduated from Anderson High School. She then attended Anderson Institute Business College. On October 23, 1941 she married Robert Mayrath in Dayton, Ohio. They celebrated 35 years of marriage before his death on June 4, 1977. She later married John L. Myers in Dodge City. He survives. They celebrated 25 years of marriage on April 5, 2011. Twyla was a longtime Dodge City resident moving to Wichita four years ago. She enjoyed traveling and was an avid reader.
She was a member of St.Cornelius Episcopal Church of Dodge City. Mrs. Myers was very active in many groups within the church and community.
In addition to her husband, John, Twyla is survived by four daughters, Sharon S. Mayrath of Kansas City, Nicki Soice and husband Larry of Wichita, Noel Cromwell of Overland Park and Melissa Wagner and husband Ken of Monument, Colorado; step-son, Jack Myers of San Angelo, Texas; step-daughter, Sue Blosser and husband Jim of Warren, Ohio; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Robert Mayrath; and one great grandson.
Funeral service will be held at Saint Cornelius Episcopal Church on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Dennis Zimmerman presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Monday, June 6, 2011 from noon to 8:00 PM with the family receiving friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to St. Cornelius Episcopal Church, the Ford County Humane Society, or the Dodge City Friends of the Zoo, all in care of the funeral home.
