Valeria
Mueller
March 28, 1928 – November 22, 2021
Dodge City - Valeria Stein Mueller, 93, passed away November 22, 2021 in her home in Dodge City, KS. She was born on March 28, 1928 in Spearville, KS, to Eugene and Josephine (Torline) Stein.
Valeria graduated from Windhorst High School. After graduation she moved to an apartment in Dodge City and became a dental hygienist working for Dr. Shira for four years.
She married Duane Mueller of Wright, on November 8, 1950. Married 64 years, they raised four children: Linda K. Elson (Tom, preceded in death), Dodge City, KS; Connie Mueller, Dodge City, KS; Michael Mueller (Mary), Bedford, TX; Timothy Mueller, Las Vegas, NV. Valeria has 3 grandchildren: Sara Brenner (Trevor Scott), Cincinnati, OH; Christopher Mueller (Chris), Hurst, TX; Kaci Blagg (Tubyasus Alford (TA)), Dallas, TX. She has 3 Great Grandchildren; Zachry and Alyx Mueller (Christopher & Chris), Blake Alford (Kaci & TA). She is survived by brothers Maurice (Shirley) Stein, Chandler, AZ; Ken (Hattie) Stein, Wright, KS.; along with multiple nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Duane, her brother Floyd (Ethylrita) Stein, Wright, and sister Carol Jean Allen (Claude), Dodge City.
After marrying Duane, they managed a family farm in Wright, KS from 1950 to 1960. From 1960 to 1975, Valeria and Duane operated a small feedlot between Wright and Dodge raising beef cattle. From 1970 to 1975, they were the proprietors of the World Famous Right Steak House, Wright, KS., feeding hundreds of friends every weekend. Their signature dish was the most popular, "Sirloin for Two."
In 1975, Valeria began work for the Ford County Clerk of the District Court and remained there until retirement in 2005. Valeria loved working there so much that when she turned 89 she re-applied for an available position in the Clerk's office!
Valeria was proud to have a large network of life-long friends with whom she traveled and celebrated life with. She was a great friend and mentor to many people, never missing an opportunity to offer valuable teachings on biscuits and gravy or fried chicken. Valeria provided straight forward advice to all who were fortunate enough to know and ask, especially the young kids, though she claimed to never want to "preach." She was the type of person who was happy to always put others first.
Valeria was an active Catholic in all of the Parishes she belonged to from her formative years at Windhorst, participating in the " Passion Play ." She held leadership positions in the Altar Society at St. Andrews Parish during their family years. She worshiped weekly at Sunday Mass and "adoration" of the Perpetual Adoration at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Dodge City.
