Valetta Jane Roberts, 71, died April 16, 2024, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas after battling several health problems. She was born on July 12, 1952, in Dodge City, Kansas, the daughter of James R. and Valetta Coy (Glassco) Adams.

Valetta's childhood was spent in Copeland on the family farm. She enjoyed farm life, horses and riding bikes. She graduated from Copeland High School in 1970. She married Mark Steven Roberts on August 22, 1970. Mark being in the Air Force, they lived in Michigan and Mississippi. During the Vietnam War, the couple lived in Thailand where Mark was stationed. After returning to the states, they lived in various places, including Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas. They were blessed with one son, Kevin J. Roberts.

They returned to the family farm in Copeland and Valetta drove a school bus for several years. Later, after moving to Whitewater, Kansas, she went to work in the banking industry. Valetta enjoyed cross stitching and was an avid collector of Carousel horses. After retiring, they moved to Cartwright to be close to Lake Texoma.

She is survived by her son, Kevin Roberts of Cartwright, Oklahoma; a grandson, Evan Roberts of Cartwright, Oklahoma; two sisters, Talotta Kloefkorn and husband Ron of Manchester, Oklahoma and Kimala Adams of Tempe, Arizona; one nephew, Aaron Kloefkorn (Autumn); one niece, Jacqueline Kloefkorn (Curtis); two great nephews; and four cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Mark and a sister, Jetta Lea Adams.

The funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Dodge City, on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. Burial will be at later time Veterans' Cemetery in Fort Dodge. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Friday, April 26, 2024, from noon to 8 P.M. Memorials are to the Copeland Cemetery or Donors Choice in Care of the Funeral home.
