April 30, 1934 – January 8, 2018
GARDEN CITY – Valoise Mae Marconnet, known as "Valo", peacefully passed away January 8, 2018, at Garden Valley Retirement Home, Garden City, at the age of 83. Valo was born on April 30, 1934 in Minneola.
Her children are Vicki Downey, Kent Marconnet, Curtis Marconnet and wife, Wilma, Dedra Koehn, Russell "Rusty" Marconnet (preceded in death), and Scott Marconnet and wife Karla, 17 natural grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren. Being a very spiritual person, she was loved by most and remembered for her kindness, sweetness and sense of humor. Siblings include her beloved sisters, Verla Stauth, Dodge City, Velda Troyer, Colorado Springs, with whom she nurtured a close loving relationship to the end. She is preceded in death by her husband, Olen E. Marconnet, and her parents, Russell M. and Mabel Creech.
Because of her love for sales and jewelry, she was involved in Sarah Coventry jewelry when she was younger and through the years broadened her venues, when she lived in Arizona, New Mexico and Hays, to home shows, swap meets and various events selling jewelry, purses, accessories etc. Other pursuits included retail sales and bookkeeping. She was an avid reader of spiritual books-her true passion, her love of the Lord. Valo loved boating, fishing, camping, dancing, and genealogy, to note a few hobbies. She played the trumpet, washboard and spoons to the delight of her grandchildren. Last but not least, was her love for her schnauzers in her later life.
Service will be a private family matter and remains will be interred at Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made through Swaim Funeral Chapel, 1901 6th Ave., Dodge City, KS 67801, in the memory of Valo Marconnet.
