Dodge City - Velma Lucille Houser, 91, died September 2, 2015 at her residence in Dodge City. She was born on March 5, 1924 at Dodge City the daughter of Clay Foster and Alvina R. (Senger) Houser.
Velma was a 1942 graduate of Dodge City High School. She attended Dodge City Junior College and then St. Joseph Hospital school of nursing. Velma was a registered nurse for many years and spent two years at the Indian Hospital in Eagle Butte, South Dakota. She was adopted into the Dakota Nation and given the name Tate Omani Win which means "Walks In The Wind Woman".
Mrs. Houser is survived by spiritual brother, Chief Philip Lane Jr. and wife Suthida; and one godson, Philip Tiger Lane.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Leslie R. Houser and his wife Betty.
Celebration of life will be held at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 7:00 P.M. with Philip Lane, Jr. presiding. There will be no public visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Four Worlds International Institute in care of the funeral home.
