VERYLE GENEVA WYCOFF
Dodge City - Veryle Geneva Wycoff, 97, died May 22, 2013 at her residence in Dodge City. She was born on February 26, 1916 in Ford County the daughter of Fred Lincoln and andMatilda Christiena (Jacobs) Bailey.
Mrs. Wycoff attended Dodge City schools and graduated from Dodge City High School in 1934. She attended Dodge City Community College and was in the first graduating class of DCCC, graduated from St. Mary's University and Fort Hays State University. She married Charles B. Wycoff on March 12, 1938 in Dodge City. He preceded her in death on April 29, 1999. They lived all their married life in Dodge City. Veryle was a teacher at Dodge City Junior High School until retiring in 1980.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Tri-Phi Sunday School Class, Order of the Eastern Star, Ford County Historical Society, and Retired Junior High Teachers Club, and D.A.R. all of Dodge City.
Veryle is survived by one daughter, Christy Hornung and husband Don of Dodge City; one son-in-law, Doug Smith of Dodge City; and three grandchildren, Christian Hornung and wife Johna, Matthew Hornung, and KaCee Smith. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, ChaRee Smith; and one brother, Aaron Bailey
Funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Dodge City on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Lance Carrithers presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 from 12:00 - 8:00 PM.
