Obituary

Sublette - Victor Shotton, 88, died March 10, 2021 at Gilbert Mercy Hospital in Gilbert, Arizona.  He was born on July 28, 1932 in Garden City, the son of John T. and Zella Fern (Hahn) Shotton.

Vic grew up in Haskell County.  He graduated from Sublette High School in 1950.   On July 18, 1951, Vic was united in marriage to Shirley Ruth Wait.  The couple made their home in Sublette and Vic farmed with his father.  Upon his father's passing, Vic took over the farming operation.  He later built John T. Feeders and successfully ran the feedlot and farm until he sold and moved his family to Willcox, Arizona to farm in Kansas Settlement, Arizona in 1977.  Vic continued farming in Kansas Settlement, raising cotton, corn, lettuce, chili peppers, cantaloupe, watermelon, and various other crops until is retirement in 1998.  He enjoyed farming, helping his friends, and most of all, his family.

He was member of the Methodist Church of Willcox, Arizona; lifetime member of the Elks Lodge; and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Garden City and the Shriners in Tucson, Arizona.

Vic is survived by his wife, Shirley; four children, Vicki Carr and husband Brad, Brad Shotton and wife Julie, Chad Shotton, and Ami Heil and husband Vince; one sister, Mildred Garner; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ronald, Aubrey, and John; three sisters, Marybeth, Virginia, and Betty; a grandson, Carson Shotton; and a great granddaughter, Kayleigh Dirks.

Graveside service will be held at Haskell County Cemetery, Sublette on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 11:00 AM with Pastor David Erwin presiding. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Sublette on Friday, March 19, 2021 from noon to 8:00 PM.  Memorials are suggested to Willcox Elks Lodge #2131 in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
