DODGE CITY - Viola E. Schweitzer, 95, died Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City. She was born on March 19, 1915 on the 101 ranch in Beaver County, Oklahoma the daughter of William A. and Zelma (Adkins) Cravens.

Viola married Benjamin Schweitzer on September 22, 1938 at Meade. He preceded her in death on February 17, 1977. She was a homemaker and resided on the Schweitzer family homestead south of Dodge City. Viola also worked at Eckles, Carlson Paint and Boothill.

Viola was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Dodge City.

She is survived by a son, Clyde Schweitzer of Moreno Valley, California; three grandsons, Andrew and Christopher both of Oxford, England and Robert of Cambridge, England; two great grandsons, Craig and David both of Oxford, England; nephew, Randy Schweithzer of Ft. Dodge and serveral other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, Oscar and two sisters, Lyla and Fledia.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Dr. Gary Winget presiding. Burial will follow at Greencrest Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 from Noon to 8:00 PM. Memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
