Dodge City - Virgie Ione Konda, 82, died February 7, 2018 at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains, Dodge City.  She was born on April 4, 1935 at Lyons, the daughter of Virgil and Mary (Kemper) Bolton.

Ione was a graduate of Hutchinson High school and received her associate degree from Hutchinson Community College. On August 31, 1954 she married Arthur J. Konda at Windthorst. She was a homemaker who enjoyed staying at home raising her children. Ione also enjoyed trips with her family to Colorado where she loved to try and find the deer and elk. She was an avid quilter and even belonged to the Miss Kitty's Quilters.

She was a member of the St. Andrew Catholic Church of Wright and the Daughters of Isabella at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City.

Ione is survived by her son, Jim Konda and wife Cindy of Dodge City; five daughters, Theresa Berger and husband Tommie of Sylvan Grove, Karen Herrington and husband Mark of Greeley, Colorado, Leslie Ring and husband David of Wichita, Dianna Polkinghorn and husband Devlin of Dodge City and Naoma Barnes and husband Kent of Topeka; eight grandchildren, Mindy Konda, Kyle Konda, Fritz Berger, Bryan Herrington, Daniel Ring, Jesica Harvey and husband Chris, Raquel Barnes and Lucas Barnes; two great grandchildren, Celeste and Brendan Konda; and a sister, Arinetta Bolton of Salina. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arthur J. Konda, and son, Virgil Konda.

Vigil service will be held at St. Andrew Catholic Church on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at 5:00 PM. Memorial Mass will be held at St. Andrew Catholic Church on Monday February 12, 2018 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Robert A. Schremmer presiding.  Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Windthorst.  Memorials are suggested to St. Andrew Catholic Church or Presbyterian Manor of the Plains in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
