Virginia Naylor Barrett, 85, passed away Monday, May 11, 2009 peacefully from the arms of her loving family to the loving arms of her Lord at Satanta District Hospital Satanta. She was born on February 1, 1924 in Cimarron, the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Mae (Imhoff) Naylor.
A lifetime resident of Cimarron, she graduated from Cimarrron High School in 1941. Virginia served her country in the Army Air Corp during WWII. On June 28, 1953, she married Brian B. Barrett at Cimarron. He preceded her in death on January 10, 1997. She was co-owner with her husband in the operation of Barrett Plumbing and Heating, Cimarron. Virginia spent her life raising her three sons, helping her husband Brian and son Pat in the family business, and doting over her grandchildren. She loved spending time with her friends at the Gray County Senior Center in Cimarron. Virginia was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
She was a member of Cimarron United Methodist Church.
Virginia is survived by her three sons Pat Barrett of Cimarron and his sons, Justin and Brady; Bruce Barrett and wife Kim of Kansas City, Missouri and her daughter Karima; Jim Barrett and wife Suzi of San Jose, California and their son Ryan and daughter Hayley. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, and one brother, and her loving husband Brian.
A Celebration of Virginia's life will be held at the Gray County Senior Center, 221 S. Main St. Cimarron, on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 11:00 AM. Private inurnment will precede the service at Cimarron Cemetery. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. The family has asked that flowers not be sent but that memorials be made to Virginia Barrett Memorial Fund in care of the Credit Union of Dodge City, at any of their locations.
