Obituary

Montezuma - Virginia Fern Koehn, 85, passed away on January 4, 2023 at Bethel Home in Montezuma. Virginia was born December 28, 1937 to Herman and Elsie (Dirks) Ratzlaff in Fredonia.

Virginia accepted the Lord as her Savior and was baptized March 23, 1950 in Scott City. Errol Koehn and Virginia Ratzlaff met each other when they both were 16 years old. They later married on December 27, 1958 and just celebrated their 64th anniversary.

Virgina left behind those mourning her passing are her husband, Errol; daughter, Sheryl Tavares and husband Tom of Orlando, Florida; son, Kelly Koehn and wife Tracy of Prairie Village; three grandchildren, Sam Koehn of Mission, Kelsey Kuchera Mauck and husband Nathan of Overland Park, and Chase Kuchera of San Diego, California; two great-grandchildren, Sophie and Truman Mauck Overland Park. Also surviving are her brothers: Virgil Ratzlaff, Garry Ratzlaff and Galen Ratzlaff all of Scott City, Delbert Ratzlaff of Grove, Oklahoma, Leonard Ratzlaff of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Michael Ratzlaff of Russellville, Arkansas; and one sister, Glenda Ryan of Newton; brothers-in-law, Manford Koehn of Fort Dodge, Michael Koehn and wife Beth, and Keith Koehn and wife Virginia, all of Montezuma; and one sister- in-law, Kathy Ratzlaff along with numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Virginia in death is a son, Bradley (Born 1959,died 1960); her parents, Herman and Elsie Ratzlaff; her brothers, Merrel Ratzlaff, Chester Ratzlaff, Gerald Ratzlaff, Milford Ratzlaff and Melvin Ratzlaff; one sister: Joyce Ratzlaff Koehn; sister-in-law Freda Ratzlaff; and two brothers-in-law, Jerald Koehn and Garry Koehn.

Graveside service will be held at Montezuma Mennonite Cemetery on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Minister Charles Schmidt presiding. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Montezuma on Monday, January 9, 2023 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM with the family recieving friends from 2-4PM.
